
“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose hearts are the highways to Zion” (Psalm 84:1, 5).
Ancient Israelites traveled “highways to Zion” three times a year.
“Zion” was synonymous with Jerusalem and the Temple; God’s presence.
Faithful ones who treasured this journey were blessed.
Formidable obstacles included distance, thieves and weather.
People certainly shared information, guidance and encouragement.
The redeemed in Christ Jesus now travel to a heavenly “Zion.” They are destined to worship their Savior in His glorious presence forever. And the faithful who occupy their hearts with that journey are blessed as were Jews of old.
The journey remains difficult.
